Autism + ADHD +Trauma

Specializing in kids overwhelmed by emotions, withdrawing from school, navigating the challenges of Autism or ADHD, or trying to make sense of painful experiences

Helping children understand themselves, build emotional resilience, and find their voice.

At Transforming Trauma, therapy is a place where children don't have to have all the answers. They are met with patience, curiosity, and compassion while learning practical skills to better understand themselves and navigate life's challenges, big and small.

Children aren't miniature adults.

One of the greatest misconceptions about childhood is expecting children to process emotions like adults.

Children are still developing the skills to identify feelings, communicate needs, solve problems, and regulate big emotions. When we expect more than their brains are ready for, frustration often replaces understanding.

Naomi believes meaningful change begins by meeting children where they are—not where we wish they were.

By helping children understand how their brains work, process difficult experiences, and develop practical emotional skills, therapy becomes more than talking. It becomes a place where children gain confidence, resilience, and the ability to navigate life with greater independence.

What Therapy Looks Like

Some sessions involve talking through difficult experiences.

Others involve drawing, games, creative activities, or learning practical strategies for handling situations they'll face during the coming week.

Children learn to:

  • Understand their emotions

  • Recognize how Autism, ADHD, or trauma affects the brain

  • Prepare for stressful situations before they happen

  • Develop healthy coping strategies

  • Build confidence in expressing themselves

  • Practice solving real-life challenges

Rather than simply reacting to difficult moments, children begin developing the skills to navigate them with confidence.

Every child is different.

Children make the greatest progress when parents feel supported too.

For children under 13, sessions begin with a brief parent check-in to discuss recent successes, concerns, and goals. Parents are also welcome to email updates between sessions, allowing therapy to stay connected to the challenges children are facing at home.

While Naomi does not participate in legal proceedings or custody evaluations, she is happy to collaborate with families by providing referrals for additional therapeutic services when needed.

Parents Matter.
